The Dead Weather

Band Members:
Jack White (of White Stripes and The Raconteurs), Alison Mosshart (of the Kills), Dean Fertita (of Queens of the Stone Age), and Jack Lawrence (of The Raconteurs).

Who they are (this time around): The Dead Weather is an assortment of some of the greatest musicians out there. Created and produced by Jack White himself, this alternative/"garage" rock band is sounding amazing already (we haven't even heard the rest of their album!). Unlike his previous 2 bands, Jack White is going to be staying low this time (theoretically) as the drummer and being a co-vocalist. Even though he wrote (or at least co-wrote) 7 of the 11 songs on their debut album, Horehound, he is leaving the main vocals to Alison Mosshart. The guitar and bass playing will be done mostly by Jack Lawrence and Dean Fertita, but we are sure that Jack White will not be able to just kick back and bang drums. We are sure that he will get up and bring out his kick-ass guitar playing we all know and love (and probably have Alison Mosshart take over on the drums).

Why they are going to be big (excuse us, HUGE):
The main reason, really... is because it's the newest Jack White creation. And everything he touches becomes solid gold (at least we think). And really, when has Mr. White ever steered us wrong? (besides that one time where he did a song with Alicia Keys, but it was for a Bond movie... so we forgave him). However, is this going to be a "supergroup"? To reach that status, they will need to stick together for quite a while and keep producing amazing songs. And while we think that they will be a big hit and reach their "huge" quota, we're not sure that these guys have the time to commit to The Dead Weather to get to the level of "supergroup". For one thing, Jack White has an upcoming album with the Raconteurs as well. However, we do hope that they prove us wrong and will stick together for quite a while.

Albums:
Horehound (their debut album) is going to be hitting the stores and (we believe) spreading like wildfire on June 9th (of this year). They have released 2 songs so far on itunes, "Hang You from the Heavens" and a cover of Gary Numan's "Are 'Friends' Electric?". (To download them free, go here).

Label(s):
Third Man Records, this is Jack White's
own record label. At the opening of Third Man Records, he performed for the first time with The Dead Weather on March 11, 2009 (giving out vinyl records to the audience - man! Wish we could have been there).
