Who they are: This fantastic trio that is White Lies (previously known as Fear of Flying) are an alternative-popish punk rock band. They formed as Fear of Flying back in 2002 but wanting to change up their style and create a new "vehicle" for their new songs they renamed themselves as White Lies. With their new "epic" and "cinematic" sound, they hit their first gig in London's Hoxton Square. Immediately after the show, they were flooded with record label offers. Since then, their debut album To Lose My Life... reached the number 1 spot in Britain, their single Death has been called the "Hottest Record in the World", and they have been on numerous television programs here in the US, the UK, and the rest of Europe.


Why we love them: White Lies are very complicated to explain with words. They combine some of the best styles, making it a "new retro" style by combining electro-pop with punk and much more. Harry McVeigh's voice is smooth and reminiscent of the 80s vibe. Their sound is dark, yet uplifting. Their style has been compared to U2, Joy Division, the Killers and many more. But even though we see where these comparisons are coming from, I think that you would be doing an injustice. Their lyrics are smart, "cheeky", and thought provoking - all while making you to move in sync to their beats and music.
