Who they are:
Who they are:
The Head and the Heart are a fairly new, self-described "folk-indie-pop-rock" band from Seattle, Washington. The five twenty-somethings met in 2009 during a weekly open-mic in a Seattle bar. The chemistry between them was instant. So, they decided to collaborate and in 2010 came out with their self-titled debut album, The Head and the Heart. The album made it to the top of the local Seattle charts and stayed there for weeks, and after a few weeks of their local success, they were asked to open for Vampire Weekend at Seattle's 2,800 seat Paramount Theater.
Described in their own bio: "... The Head and the Heart write and play songs that
speak to the newness of a fresh start, of the ghosts left behind, of moving forward, all brimming with a soulfulness and hope for a better life than the one we've all been sold."

Why we love them:
Their collective love of classic folk harmonies are what sets them apart from today's usual indie-rock crowd. Their melodies seem fairly simple at first glance, but like a good classic, once you start listening to their songs you find something new ever time. The graceful harmonies, the almost-folk-almost-rock combination, and the pure soul of each musician is what makes this band great.
They are still fairly unknown. How unknown? They don't even have a Wikipedia page! Though we are sure that a band of this stature will get one fairly soon. But since they are not so well known (yet), this is a band that you need to see live as soon as you can! This way, you will be able to see them in smaller venues, which as you can see in the video below is just an amazing experience.
