The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

Our Recommendations: If you've never heard of The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, we recommend listening to "The Sun Ain't Shining No More" (Youtube video at the bottom) and "Around The Bend". Download them here

Main Band Members ("the core"): Mette Lindberg (frontwoman, vocals) and Lars Iversen (bass/keyboards/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/producer).

Band Members (live performances also include): Miloud Carl Sabri (trumpet), Sven Meinild (saxophone), Mads Brinch Nielsen (guitar/keyboards), Jesper Elnegaard (drums).

Who They Are: The Asteroids Galaxy Tour have a simple beginning, but their amazing sound brought them into starlight very quickly. In 2007, Lars Iversen told Mette Lindberg that he had written a few songs and had demo tracks. He wanted her to be the singer and so she took the demo tracks and went home to make her own changes to it. And thus, their band was formed.

During the 2007 summer, they stayed day and night in Lars's self-built studio (in his one-room flat in Copenhagen) working on their demo album. As soon as it was made, it landed into the hands of Amy Winehouse's management and they asked The Asteroids Galaxy Tour to be Amy's opening act in Denmark. Gaining popularity quickly, Apple asked them to use a part of their song "Around the Bend" in Apple's new iPod Touch commercial. Later, in 2009 they were even asked to to be part of the American Tv show, Gossip Girl.

The band is now set to support Katy Perry on her sold-out tour all over Europe this summer.

Why they are going to be BIG: If you just read everything before this, then it is obvious how quickly they are rising in popularity. And there is no way they are not going to be BIG. This band is only on their first album, but with the attention that they are getting from all parts of the world, it is only a matter of time before this band starts hitting top of the charts here in America as well.

We saw more shows than we could count at this year's South By Southwest Music Festival 2009 and this band was definitely top 2 of the best shows live. And even though they are a synth-pop group, they rock especially hard live.
We also loved
Mette's child-like (sometimes described it as "squeaky") voice. It isn't just high-pitched and sweet, it is also very soulful. And her quirkiness definitely energizes the stage and engages the audience.

Ablums/Eps:

  • Fruit - their debut album that is all over on the radio in Europe is scheduled to come out this month (May 2009)
